Your BlackBerry, like most devices, comes with certain defaults. There's a default font, a default trackball sensitivity and so on. There are a number of BlackBerry tweaks and options you can easily change if you just know where to look.

- On your BlackBerry scroll to Settings and click the trackball.

- In Settings scroll to Options and click the trackball.

- In Options scroll to Screen/Keyboard and click the trackball.

- You can change the font by pressing the trackball and scrolling through the available fonts.

- Note that the fonts are previewed as you scroll through them so you'll know how each one looks.

- You can change the font size and the font style.

- Backlight Brightness ranges from 10 to 100 and you can change the default by clicking the trackball and making your selection.

- Backlight Timeout ranges from 2 minutes to 10 seconds.

- Automatically Dim Backlight can be set to on or off.

- Key Tone can be on or off.

- Key Rate can be set to Normal, Fast, or Slow.

- You can change the default currency symbol on your BlackBerry.

- Right Side and Left Side Convenience Keys can be set to open the applications of your choice. Click the trackball to pick something different.

- Trackball Sensitivity can be set with horizontal and vertical values.

- Menu Style can be set for Short Menu or Full Menu.

- When you've made all your changes click the BlackBerry menu key, highlight Save, and press the trackball.
