Pt. 9 of 10 | 2:13 |

Digg 101

Thursday March 11, 2010
Part of the joy of Digg comes in finding a cool URL before anyone else gets a chance to post it to the site. If it then catches fire and finds its way to the top of the homepage, you'll have experienced Digg nirvana. Using simple tools provided by Digg, you can easily check the Digg status of any site or page you visit.

Show Notes

- The Diggbar gives you an easy way to create short URL's for really long URL's and easily see what sort of activity a Webpage has on Digg.

- To find the Diggbar, scroll all the way down to the bottom of the Digg homepage and click on "Diggbar tools."

- To use the Diggbar bookmarklet, click on it and drag it up to your bookmarks toolbar and drop it there.

- Whenever you're on a site with an article that you want to Digg or see if it's already been dug, click on the Diggbar and the article will reload with a Digg toolbar attached to it.

- You'll see if it's been submitted to Digg, how many views it's received, you can Digg it right from there, comment on it, see related articles, and click on "random" to be brought to another random Digg article.

- You can also easily share the article from your Diggbar via email, on Facebook, or Twitter.

- The article will also have a short URL that you can share with people over IM or email.

- You can also add the Diggbar to an article without using the bookmarklet by adding http://digg.com/ before any URL. i.e http://digg.com/www.butterscotch.com.
