Today we'll show you how to get quick and easy access to the system volume in Windows. The volume icon in the Windows task bar enables you to control the overall volume of Windows as well as the individual input (like a microphone) and output (speakers or a headset) components.

- Go to the Start menu.
- Click on Control Panel.
- Open Sound and Audio Devices.
- Under the Volume tab, place a check mark next to the text that reads "Place volume icon in the taskbar."
- Click Apply.
- Click OK to close the window.
The system volume icon will now appear in the Windows taskbar.
- Click the icon once to bring up a slider that controls the overall system volume.
- Double-click or right-click and select Open audio properties to bring up refined controls for all Windows sound elements.
- Right click and select Adjust Audio Properties to bring up the the overall system sound window, the same one we launched at the beginning of this tutorial.
- Click on Control Panel.
