At CES 2009 in Las Vegas, Microsoft used Steve Ballmer's keynote address to announce the public beta of Windows 7. That means that anyone can download the free, not yet finished code for Windows 7, install it and try out Microsoft's latest operating system. Follow this step-by-step tutorial on how to
download the beta and burn it to disc.

NOTE: The Windows 7 beta is no longer available for download from Microsoft
- First things first: do a full backup of your computer before attempting to install Windows 7. Also, don't use your main computer if you can avoid it.
- Go to the Windows 7 site.
- Under Try The Beta, click Get the beta.
- Be sure to completely read the Here's What you need to know section.
- Be sure to read the system requirements.
- If you're ready select the language you want and either 32 or 64-bit
and click GO.
- Sign-in to your Windows Live account and the download screen will
display.
- Click download and the download manager will appear and the 2.44
Gigabyte download will begin.
- Once the download has completed you'll need a program to burn the ISO
file to the DVD. In this example I used MagicISO.
- With MagicISO loaded click Tools, then Burn CD/DVD with ISO file.
- Select Windows 7 Beta file and then click Burn It!
- Use the resulting DVD to install Windows 7 Beta or use the ISO
file to create a virtual machine.
