Show Notes

To get to App World from your BlackBerry PlayBook just swipe up from the bottom bezel and tap on App World. You'll first be brought to featured apps where you can scroll through the featured apps by swiping your finger left or right. You'll also notice a search bar in the upper-right where you can search for specific apps by name.

If you just want to

browse available apps

then you can tap on Categories. From here you pick a category that interests you to see apps in that category. Tap on one of the apps displayed and you'll see more information about that application. You'll also see a screenshots window that you can swipe over to browse through screenshots. To get the app just tap the Download button for free apps or the Purchase button for paid apps.

When purchasing apps you'll need to log in using your

BlackBerry ID

. You'll then start to download the application. To find the new application you'll want to swipe up into the multitasking menu, then swipe up again to get your full list of apps. You should see freshly downloaded apps appear at the bottom. To change the layout of the apps just tap and hold on an app that you want to move and then drag it into place. You can also drag it up over the Favorites button to set that as one of your favorite apps.

To open an app you'll want to open the multitasking menu, go to your apps list and tap on the desired app. To close the app just open the multitasking menu again and tap the red X beside the name of that app.

It's worth noting that the BlackBerry PlayBook will soon be able to

run Android apps

. This won't include all Android apps but will allow PlayBook owners to run a number of those applications and expand their list of available apps.
