When someone famous and popular, like Michael Jackson, dies, most of us are interested in the developments. Emails fly and news and celebrity sites jump into high gear. Now spammers are taking advantage of that interest by sending emails complete with attached viruses that claim information about a celebrity death.

Show Notes

- Visit the Symantec Site for complete information.

- These emails give you part of the story and then tell you to open the attachment for more information.

- In most cases, the attachment is an HTML or ZIP file.

- In ALL cases, the file is actually a virus waiting to be installed.

- The spammers are trying to capitalize on your curiosity by getting you to open the attachment.

- Recent SPAM emails have claimed the death of such celebrities as:
  • Brad Pitt

  • Jennifer Aniston

  • Beyonce

  • Bon Jovi

  • and many more.

- Beware of these emails and simply delete them.

- If a well-known celebrity has died, you can get information from a trusted news source.
