Facebook applications and news feeds

In addition to networking with friends, you can use Facebook applications to play games, have fun and tell people what you're up to. You can also stay in the loop as to what your friends are doing and saying through news feeds, post photos, stories and much, much more.

- The Mini feed is a rundown of your activities on Facebook. This allows your friends to see any alterations you've done to your profile.

- News Feed is your friend's and your network's mini feeds combined. It tends to be the first thing you see when you log onto Facebook. This gives you updates on what's been going on.

- You can delete any mini feed story by clicking the edit button to the right of the specific story and then clicking delete.

- To access privacy settings click the settings link at the top right of the window. Then click on privacy settings.

- This will allow you to select exactly what you do and don't want to see on your feeds. Privacy settings are covered more in episode 5.

- The wall is a public forum for you to post messages to your friends. At the top of their profile you'll see a text box. Write your message and click post. This will post a message on their wall.

- Facebook also has it's own chat program.

- At the bottom of your window is a toolbar. You can turn Facebook chat on and off by clicking your status.

- If you have friends online you can chat with them by clicking online friends, selecting the friend you want to talk to, and then beginning to chat.

- The notification icon may have a red number above it. This is to notify you of thins like someone writing on your wall, photos you've been tagged in, or shared something with you.

- To change settings for Facebook chat settings click the chat icon to the far right of the screen. At the top click settings.

- You can also add applications to your profile. These applications can allow you to alter photos, play games with friends, or follow your favorite bands.

- At the top of the screen click Applications.

- Click browse for more applications.

- To add an application click on the application you are interested in and click the add application button. You then have to allow the program access to your profile.

- To remove an application click the Applications link at the top of the screen. Then find the application and click remove.
