- Make sure that your phone is powered off and still connected to your computer.
- Run RSD Lite that we installed in the last segment.
- Now, slide open the keyboard of your Motorola Droid 2.1.
- If it is facing you with the USB cable going off to the left, the rocker button will be located at the bottom.
- Press the rocker button up and hold down the power button for five seconds or so.
- The screen will turn on black and will have white text on it. At the very top it will say BootLoader.
- Now we go back to RSD Lite on the PC and just set your Droid down.
- Find the file with the .rdf extension that you downloaded earlier. Click Start.
- Watch the progress and wait until it reaches 100 per cent. If it says "in progress" but also shows 100 per cent, that's fine.
- Close down RSD Lite even if it tells you that the operation is still in progress.
- Reboot your Motorola Droid. At this point, your device is not yet rooted, but it's ready to be.
