Services like Foursquare or Facebook Places use GPS technology to allow you to let people know where you are and share your activities with others. Another recreational activity that uses

Geocaching is slowly growing in popularity and involves one person hiding an object, referred to as a cache, somewhere outdoors for another person to find later using a GPS device. Usually the cache consists of a waterproof container with one or more trinkets inside along with a log book. These caches are often well off the beaten path, such as off of hiking trails.
