Beginner's guide to YouTube

Now that you've got a YouTube account it's time to customize the homepage with the content you want to see front and center. Once you've added, removed or shuffled content around on your YouTube homepage, you'll be greeted by your own personalized YouTube portal whenever you log in. This is a great way to keep track of what your network has been up to since you last logged in.

- Featured Videos have been chosen by the YouTube community either for their humor value or timeliness.

- Most Active Videos are those that are being viewed the most.

- Friend Activity highlights what your YouTube friends are up to.

- Promoted Videos are commercial videos that pay for placement.

- Subscriptions shows updates to any of the YouTube channels you've subscribed to. We'll look at subscribing to YouTube channels later in the series.

- Change the position of the YouTube home page content by clicking on the arrows in the module headline box to move it up or down the page.

- To change the layout and content of your YouTube home page, click on the Customize your homepage link below the search box.
