Show Notes

- SPAM filters can come in a variety of forms. Some are installed on your desktop and others are services you can use. Still others are part of the anti-virus and anti-spyware packages you use. Reducing the amount of SPAM you receive will help you stay safer.

- Fight SPAM by using products from companies like McAfee, Symantec, Kapersky, BitDefender, and others. Select a package that includes anti-spam protection.

- You can fight SPAM with a challenge/response system like the one used in ChoiceMail.

- Another option is Zaep which also uses a challenge/response system. These programs challenge any unknown email and make the sender respond. This works well because nearly all SPAM is sent by automated systems that can't respond.

- Cloudmark is another excellent program you can install on your PC to help reduce SPAM.

- Cloudmark puts a button in your email toolbar and you can flag email as SPAM or Not SPAM. Cloudmark is extremely accurate.

- One key thing to remember in dealing with SPAM is that you should never open attachments in any email from a person you don't know.
