Getting introduced: inbox and introductions

LinkedIn is not just another social networking site. In fact, its express purpose is to bring colleagues, partners and friends together to network for mutual benefit. There are no wall posts, flashy themes, spinning text etc. LinkedIn is all about helping its users make valuable business and personal connections online.

- Click on Compose message to send email to your LinkedIn network.

- Select the InMail or introduction option to either send an InMail (mail delivered to both a person's LinkedIn and registered email inboxes) or to request or make an introduction.

- Clicking on Introduction beside a LinkedIn member's profile brings up the Request an introduction page. This can be a good way to make a connection with a hiring manager or potential business contact that you don't know but that someone in your network does.
