Many people balk at Gmail's lack of folders, but

Gmail's system of using Labels and Filters

is actually much more powerful and usable. With the intelligent use of

labels

you can flag your email as it comes in. On top of that you can then

manipulate labels through the use of filters

. It all adds up to a full-featured system. You can even

add multiple labels

to a single email. Try doing that with folders!

- Open Gmail in your Web browser.

- If you have multiple email accounts coming into Gmail, make sure you have labels for each one.

could be something that would indicate which account the email came from Yahoo, Hotmail, your ISP or work account and so on.

types of incoming mail like news, business, banking, payments, orders, and the like.

- By labeling email as it comes in you effectively make your email easier to sort at a glance.

- Once you

add filters

, use colors and labels, you have a complete email filing system.

- To create a label just click on Labels snd type in a new label name.

- Note that Gmail won't let you creat duplicate label names.
