- Building your own PC can be entertaining and enlightening.

- It also gives you the ability to choose exactly the parts that you want.

- You'll need a motherboard and a CPU as these will be the foundation of your new computer.

- You will also need a computer case. This case will determine how large the components that you use can be.

- Also on the list of necessities are the power supply, hard drive and RAM.

- An optical drive is necessary if you want to play discs like CDs, DVDs or Blu-Ray.

- You may also want to buy higher end video and sound cards even if you have on-board solutions on your motherboard.

- We won't be looking at peripherals or extravagant modifications like liquid cooling, LED lighting, etc.
