Show Notes

- The first thing you need to get started is an Internet connection coming into your home.

- The next thing you'll need is some kind of device to create the network inside your house to share data between your devices.

- You can technically create a home network without an Internet connection, but a common reason for setting up a home network is to share Internet throughout the home.

- You'll need a router device to create the network and share data. In this episode, we use a Cisco router.

- Next you'll need some cables to create a hardwired connection. We use Ethernet cables here, which generally come in the box but can be purchased in store.

- You will also need devices to connect to your network. In this episode, we have a notebook computer that can connect wirelessly and a desktop PC that needs a wired connection.

- PDAs, printers and entertainment devices can also be connected to your network.
