could help a great deal. Personal level indicators will show at a glance whether an email was sent specifically to you, to a group or to a mailing list. It's also another step forward to being completely

free of junk mail

Note: Before beginning this series please view the complete Gmail 101, Gmail 201 and Gmail 301 series of tutorials.

- Gmail has the ability to show the level of importance of your emails using personal level indicators.

- A single > next to a message means it was sent directly to you.

- This is also true if it's sent to you and others are included.

- A double >> appears next to messages that were sent only to you.

- Arrows don't appear next to emails sent to mailing lists.

- To turn on personal level indicators click on Settings.

- Move down to Personal Level Indicators and turn them on.

- Click Save Changes.

- Now you'll see the > and >> marks.
