Hot colors

is a new feature in the

Windows 7 taskbar

. Mousing over a program lets you see at a glance whether or not it's running. The program icon changes color according to the program's status.

- Mouse over a program icon to check its status.

- If a program is running, you'll see a "hot color" on the entry in the taskbar.

- If the program has been pinned to the taskbar but isn't running, no hot color will appear.

- Click an icon to restore the running program.
