- Click the Start button, then click on the Control Panel.
- Click on System and Security once the Control Panel comes up.
- Click on Action Center.
- Click Backup and Restore, found near the bottom left.
- You will be at the Backup and Restore page, where you can see how much space is available for backup, when the last backup was made and more.
- From this page you can turn on an automatic backup schedule and change backup settings.
- If you click Change backup settings, Windows will then present a list of available backup locations. Pick one and click next.
- You will have the option to either let Windows choose which files to backup or you can do so yourself. Pick one and click next.
- Clicking "Let me choose" gives you options of what files and folders to backup, and an option to make an image of your hard drives, which will backup everything. Click next.
- You'll see a page where you can review your backup settings. Click Save settings and exit to proceed.
- You'll be back at the backup screen where you can start either an immediate backup or restore files from a previous backup.
