You can use your router to do a wide variety of things, such as
block specific web sites, you can do so in a number of ways like by
blocking web sites
. When you use your router toblock specific web sites, you can do so in a number of ways like by
blocking websites with keywords
,blocking specific domain names
and more. We'll show youhow to use your router

- Most routers use the same IP address of 192.168.1.1.
- Most also use a default login of Username:admin and Password:password.
- If your router varies, it will be in the documentation.
- In this series, we're using a Netgear WNR1000v2 Wireless N-150 router.
- Most routers have the same options available. However, some have them listed along the side and others have them across the top.
- In your router software, click Block Sites.
- You can blocks sites Per Schedule, which means by a schedule you create in the router. We'll talk about this in the next segment.
- You can have blocking always on.
- Block by Keyword by entering words you might find on sites you do not want people visiting. You may add as many keywords as you want.
- You can also block by domain name. If a domain is in your list, it will not be able to be visited.
- If you wish, you can bypass the blocking by allowing specific IP addresses through the block.
- Find your IP address under Attached Devices and enter it in the IP area.
- Click Apply and now the computer with that IP address will not by affected by the blocking.
