If you're a student or know a student, this one's for you. Generally, the default margins in

Microsoft Word

are fine, but often for school reports and assignments, the school or teacher will have very specific requirements for margins. Whether you want narrow margins or wide ones,

Microsoft Word 2007

gives you lots of defaults to choose from, or you can choose to

set custom margins in Word

.

Show Notes

- In Word 2007 click on the Page Layout tab.

- On the Page Layout tab click on the arrow on Margins.

- A windows drops down that show a series of preset margin options.

- 1" all the way around is Normal, 0.5" all the way around is Narrow, and so on.

- If none of these presets are what you need you can click on Custom Margins...

- Here you can set each margin, Top, Bottom, Left, and Right to exact settings.

- The default margins are handy in many cases, but you always have the option of totally customizing the margins.
