Some Android phones offer both a physical and an on-screen keyboard. These keyboards are generally well laid out and won't take most users long to adjust to. However, it's possible

change the settings for both the hardware and the software Android keyboards

Show Notes

- On your Android phone, tap Settings.

- Now tap on Language & keyboard.

- Tap on Android keyboard - Onscreen keyboard settings.

- Here, you can decide a number of things including:

- Vibrate on keypress
- Sound on keypress
- Auto-capitalization

- You can select Quick fixes to have it correct commonly mistyped words

- You can also have it show you suggestions as you type. Or not.

- And you can have it auto-complete when you press the spacebar.

- On the Droid, which has a physical keyboard as well, we'd press the back key.

- Then tap on Device keyboard.

- Here, you can elect to have it use auto-replace, auto-capitalize, and auto-punctuate. Or not.

- Keep in mind that the keyboard configuration is entirely up to you; you can pick what you want and don't want.
