- Click on Start, then on Setting and then on Taskbar and Start Menu.
- Click on the Start Menu tab. In the next window click on Customize.
- Click on Advanced and then double-click on the Programs folder.
- The idea is to hide away all the folders you don't need to see.
- Right-click, select New and then select Folder.
- Give your folder a name that means something to you. I call mine Windows Folders, but you can use Extra Folders, Folder Group or whatever you like.
- Now, drag every folder you don't need to see and drop it on the Windows Folder.
- This effectively cleans up your Programs menu.
- Now go into the catchall folder and create two, new folders.
- Name one "A to L" and name the other "M to Z".
- Now, move the folders alphabetically so all folders from A to Z end up in the A to M folder. Then put the rest in the M to Z folder.
- When you're done, close out of that, click OK and OK again.
- If you click on your Start menu it will now appear greatly slimmed down.
- If you should need something you can navigate to the catchall folder, and then find what you need alphabetically.
