How to use MyHeritage.com to make a family tree

The first step to

creating an online family tree

using MyHeritage.com

is to

create a MyHeritage account

. Here you will be told to enter certain details such as your gender, name, year of birth and email address. You'll also be asked to enter your parents' last names as well.

- Begin by selecting if you're male or female, add your name, email address, year of birth, country, and your parents' first and last names.

- Make sure you use your mother's maiden name.

- You can choose to create a premium account or a free account where you can add up to 250 people.

- The premium account will cost a bit but you will have the ability to add lots of people to your family tree and upload an unlimited number of photos.

- Once signed in, you can pick a unique URL name for your family tree.

- You can try using your family name but that may be taken. In that case, choose something that represents your family instead.

- Next, add a photo of yourself so that when other members start adding on to your family tree they'll know exactly who you are.

- Click on browse, select one from your computer, and click on add.
