How to create a restore point in Windows XP

Starting with Windows XP there's a feature called

System Restore

. This helps you to

create a restore point

that preserves the state of your computer at a specific date and time. Some

restore points are created automatically

. However, it's a good idea to

create a new restore point

before changing system settings or installing software.

- Click on Start and then on All Programs.

- Move up to Accessories, then over to System Tools, and then down to

System Restore

.

- When

System Restore

opens up select the option to create a new restore point and click Next.

- Give your

restore point

a name. This gives you a point of reference as to what was going on when you created the restore point.

- Windows creates the restore point and shows you that it was done.

- That's all there is to it!
