Starting with Windows XP there's a feature called
System Restore
. Thiscreates restore points
that preserve the state of your computer at a specific date and time. Somerestore points
are created automatically, but here's how you cancreate a new restore point

- Click on Start then on Control Panel.
- In Control Panel double-click on System.
- On the left-hand side click on System protection and then Continue.
- Click on the System Protection tab and click Create.
- Give your restore point a title that means something to you.
- Windows will give it a date and time.
