Creating your own icons for your files and folders is a great way to express yourself. It's also a great way to organize your computer so you know at a glance what a folder contains. You can create your own icons using your favorite images, like photos or graphics.

- Search for a free icon generator like Prodraw.net's Favicon.ico Icon Generator which we'll be using in this example.
- Browse for your file and click the upload button.
- Choose the size of the icon you'd like to create.
- Prodraw's tool creates a few versions using different sharpening levels. Choose the one that you like best.
- Save the file, giving it a unique name.
