If you wish, you can

display the date and time as part of the toolbar in Windows 7

. You may not know, however, that you can also

customize how the date and time information is displayed

. You can select from many different international time and date formats, select military or standard time and more.

- To customize the date, click on Start and then on Control Panel.

- In Control Panel, click on Clock, Language, Region.

- Now, click on Region and Language.

- At the bottom click on Additional settings...

- Now, click on the Date tab.

- You can click on the drop-down to pick from default settings.

- To view the change and see if you like it, just click Apply.

- If you wish, you can also type in your own format.

- To do this, you need to know the following conventions

yyyy is the year, like 2010

yy is the last two digits of the year, like 10

dd and d display the date.

If you want to display the day of the week, you can use ddd or dddd.

Lastly, M, M, MMM, and MMMM display the month in progressively more detail.

For January: M = 1, MM = 01, MMM = Jan and MMMM = January.

- When you're done, you can click Apply and then OK and you're done.
