You've probably heard of the latest peer to peer (P2P) file sharing using "torrents." The basic idea is that rather than connecting to one person or computer to grab a file like other P2P file sharing systems, you get parts of the file from many people at once. Without you having to do anything, torrent software manages the whole process and it's both faster and often more reliable than other means of file sharing.

Show Notes

- Download and install BitTorrent.

- Use a "tracker" site to find a file you wish to download. LegalTorrents.com is a great place to start.

- After you find a torrent you want to download, click through to the download link.

- Open the downloaded .torrent file in BitTorrent.

- Choose a folder to download to and which files to download and click OK.

- Wait for the download to finish.

BitTorrent works because everybody who downloads the files also uploads them to other people, so it's courteous to leave BitTorrent running for awhile after your download is finished.
