Your computer has an Internal IP address and an External IP address. It may have been set manually or it may have been set automatically. Regardless of how it was set there are times when you need to know what that IP address is. In our previous tutorial we showed you how to find your External IP address. In this tutorial we'll show you how to find the Internal IP address.

Show Notes
- Click on Start and then on Run.
- Type in "cmd" (without quotation marks) and press Enter.
- A black window will open up. It's a DOS prompt. Don't be intimidated ;-)
- At the prompt, where the cursor is blinking, type in "ipconfig" (without quotation marks) and press Enter.
- Data will appear on the screen.
- Look for the Ethernet adapter IP address which should look similar to this:
192.168.1.100
- The Local Gateway is the IP address that you connect to the Internet through.
- To get out of DOS and back to Windows at the prompt just type "exit" (without quotation marks) and press Enter.
- Type in "cmd" (without quotation marks) and press Enter.
