Many smartphones use a "passcode" to lock them. A passcode generally consists of four digits. While effective in locking your device it can be broken relatively easily for someone who is determined. The Android phone takes a new approach with a locking "pattern."

- Tap on Settings and then tap on Location and
- Tap on Set unlock pattern.
- You'll now have a screen with nine circles.
- You need to connect at least four of them in a pattern that you can remember.
- Pick your pattern and trace it on the screen. Click Continue.
- Now repeat the pattern exactly. If you make a mistake you'll get an error.
- Now tap Confirm.
- You Android phone will now be locked an you will have to enter this pattern to unlock it.
