How to restore files in Windows 7

If you've used the Backup and Restore program that comes with Windows 7 you're in good shape. If you need to

restore any files or folders

, it's a quick and easy process. Michael "Doctor File Finder" Callahan explains.

- Click on Start and then on Control Panel.

- In Control Panel, click on System and Security and the click on Backup and Restore.

- Backup and Restore comes up and shows you a summary.

- Click on Restore my files.

- You can Search for files, browse your backups for files, or browse folders.

- In our example, we click Browse for files.

- You'll now see your backup area and you need to click on a backup.

- Now you'll see the contents of your backup and you can select files.

- Highlight files you want to restore and click Add files.

- Continue adding files and folders until you're ready and then click Next.

- You can now elect to restore the data to its original location or put it in a new location.

- Make your choice and click Restore.

- Windows 7 will restore your file and tell you when it's finished.

- Click Finish and you're done.
