How to rip a CD on your Windows PC

You've got a bunch of CDs, but you'd like to

have the music on your computer

and mix it up a little. So, all you need to do is "rip" the music from the CD and save it to your computer's hard drive.

Show Notes

- In Windows, you can click on Start and then on Windows Media Player.

- Alternatively, you can insert the CD you want to rip and Media Player will open.

- With Windows Media Player open, insert the CD.

- You'll see the CD information come up with album art, album name, artist, and track list.

- You can rip all the tracks or you can uncheck the tracks you don't want to rip.

- In the top menu, click on Rip CD.

- If you wish, you can click on Rip Settings and make changes to those.

- Among the settings, you can elect to have any CD you insert automatically ripped.

- The selected tracks will show Pending and then they'll start to be ripped.

- The progress will show as each track is ripped and saved to your hard drive.
