Searching the Internet with Google gives you lots of results really quickly. Sometimes, however, what you need is more quality and less quantity. If you really want to search for a specific file type it is possible to do it. Here's how.

Show Notes

- Open a Google search window.

- To search type in [your search term filetype:extension] and hit enter.

- For example of this would be "olympics filetype:pdf"

- If you don't find what you're looking for you can change the file type.

Supported file types for Google Search include:
  • PDF

  • PS

  • WM (MacWrite)

  • TXT

  • PPT

  • DOC

  • XLS

  • SWF (Shockwave Flash)

  • WKS

  • WPS

  • WDB

  • WRI

  • RTF



- This is a great way to search and get results that only lead to the document type of your choice.
