If you're new to Ubuntu the

file system

search function that helps you find the files

you're looking for.

- In Ubuntu click on Places and then on

Search for files

.

- You can enter part of the file name if you remember that.

- You can enter text that may be in the document you're looking for.

- You can narrow your search using a variety of criteria.

- Look for files modified within so many days.

- Look for files around a certain size.

- Search for files created by a certain user or group.

- Ubuntu lets you

add multiple search criteria

by clicking the Add button.

- The search function in Ubuntu is very powerful.
