Show Notes

- Click Start, Programs, then Accessories, then click on Windows Explorer.

- In Windows Explorer click on Drive C. Then click on Program Files.

- Now find the Opera folder, click on it, and find the defaults folder and click on that.

- Look for the file webmailproviders.ini, which despite the file extension is a basic text file.

- If you double-click on it the file will open in your default text editor.

- With the file open, copy the four (4) lines below, that are between two lines, and paste them at the bottom of the file:

------------------------------
[Gmail]
ID=8
URL=https://mail.google.com/mail/?extsrc=mailto&url=%s
ICON=http://mail.google.com/mail/images/favicon.ico
------------------------------

- Copy and paste ONLY the four lines of text between the dotted lines.

Save the file and close it.

- Now open Opera. If Opera was already open close it and open it again.

- Click on the menu button, select Settings and then Preferences.

- Click on the Advanced tab.

- Now click on the Programs section and highlight "mailto" in the protocol listing.

- Now click Edit and select the Use A Web Mail Service button.

- Click on the drop-down list and pick Gmail.

- Click OK twice and restart Opera.

- Gmail is now your default email in Opera.
