Most people have certain applications that they like. Your favorites may not always be the defaults that came with your operating system. In Ubuntu you can go in and
set your "Preferred Applications"

- In Ubuntu click on System, then Preferences, and then on
- On the Internet tab you can select your default Web browser and email program.
- This gives you lots of flexibility when it comes to using the programs you want.
- On the Multimedia tab you can indicate the program you want to use for such things.
- The same is true on the System tab. Configure the terminal program you want.
- Ubuntu also has some accessibility options that you can configure to start when Ubuntu starts.
- This is very handy for persons with disabilities so the computer comes up in a certain mode.
