Unknown to many users your BlackBerry has a

firewall

that you can enable. This can be used to

block unwanted SMS or MMS messages, PIN messages

, and more. At the same time you can elect to allow messages from your contacts. With the

stop spam SMS messages

from being delivered to your device.

Show Notes

- On your BlackBerry navigate to the Settings icon and press the trackball or touch screen.

- In Settings navigate to the Options icon and press the trackball or touch screen.

- In Options navigate to Security Options and press the trackball or touch screen.

- In Security Options navigate to

Firewall

and press the trackball or touch screen one more time.

- In Firewall click on Disabled with the trackball or touch screen, scroll to Enabled and click the trackball or touch screen again.

- You can now go in and highlight things like SMS or MMS. Click the trackball or touch screen to put a check mark next to the ones you want to block.

- Assuming you don't want to block your friends go down and click the box next to Except for Contacts.

- This will allow your contacts to message you, but will block SMS messages from numbers that aren't in your contact list.

- When you're finished making changes press the BlackBerry menu key, highlight Save, and press the trackball.
