When you hit the hardware power button on your BlackBerry, you're really just putting the device to sleep. There are times though, like when you're going to bed, that you want to completely turn the device off. This way, you will save your battery and you won't be bothered by calls. Michael "Doctor File Finder" Callahan explains how.

- Your BlackBerry comes with a software tool to let you power it down.
- By default, it's on the main screen, but if you've moved it just look for it.
- It has the logo of the modern "power off" symbol which is a circle broken by a line.
- Just highlight the Turn Power Off symbol and press the trackball.
- The phone will pop up a message saying to press any key if you want to abort.
- Assuming you don't, just leave your BlackBerry alone and it will shut down.
