Sometimes you're working on your computer and it just isn't acting right. Perhaps you just installed some new software a few days ago and the problem started then. You've tried uninstalling, but the problems continue. Often the best way to get back to normal is to

use System Restore

.

System Restore

lets you roll your computer back to a time when it was working well without losing any of your documents, images, movies or music. We'll show you how.

Show Notes

- If your computer started acting strangely you may want to consider using

System Restore

.

- In Windows Vista click Start and then Control Panel.

- In Control Panel double-click on System.

- In System, over on the left side, click on System protection.

- Now click on the System Protection tab.

- Click on the

System Restore

button.

- Click System Restore and pick the

restore point

you want to use and click Next.

- Windows gives a summary of the restore point information. Click Finish.

- Windows reminds you that once it starts System Restore shouldn't be interrupted and it can't be undone. Click Yes.

System Restore

prepares and then reboots your computer.

- When your computer comes back up you can log in.

- Windows shows you that the System Restore process has completed and reminds you that no documents were affected.
