You want to make sure that the date and time on your Mac is set correctly. You'll also want to select the correct time zone, decide if you want the time automatically updated and so on. The date and time will be used to mark when documents are created or altered so you know what is the newest documents. It's easy to set the date and time, we'll show you!

- Open System Preferences either by clicking on the icon on the Dock or by clicking on the Apple menu and selecting System Preferences.
- In System Preferences, under System, click on Date and Time.
- You can elect to have the date and time set automatically using a time server.
- If you wish you can set the time manually.
- Under Open International you can make changes for international date formats.
- Click on the Time Zone tab and select your time zone.
- Click on the Clock tab.
- Here you can elect to show the date and time in the menu bar, view as digital or analog, display seconds, show AM/PM, show the day of the week or use a 24-hour clock.
- You can also decide if you want to have the time announced at set intervals.
