- In Windows Live Messenger there are a couple of ways to share and transfer files.

- To share a file in the message window click the menu, select File, then Send a single file.

- You can also transfer a file by clicking the File menu and then Send a single file and then select which contact you want to share the file with.

- When you pick a file to share the intended recipient must accept before the transfer will begin.

- Another way to share files is via your sharing folders.

- Click on the View your sharing folders icon to open that up.

- Windows Live Messenger reminds you that you're sharing folders with a contact and to respect copyright laws.

- You can then share files via the folder with your contact.

- You can pause sharing and restart it at any time.

- You can also view an activity log of your shared folder to see what files have been downloaded or uploaded.
