There are quite a few programs that automatically run each time you start Windows. Some you know about, but others you don't. There are times when it's helpful to turn off all those programs when you're trying to track down a problem. Auto-run programs can be easily turned off, here's how to do it!

- Click on Start, then on Run, and type in msconfig and press Enter.
- The dialog will come up and it displays a number of tabs.
- Click on the Startup tab and click Disable All.
- You may get a prompt saying you need Administrator rights, but just click OK.
- You will be prompted to Restart your computer.
- When you click Restart your PC will reboot.
- When the reboot completes all of auto-run programs that normally start with Windows will not load.
- You'll be reminded that the Startup programs are disabled.
- To enable them just go back in, click Startup, and then click Enable All.
