A PC can connect to a near unlimited number of devices. Printers, scanners, DVD players, TV cards, external hard drivers and so much more. The link between a device and the computer is the

. If you have device drivers that are up-to-date your PC will run smoother. If you've ever asked yourself "

how do I update a device driver on my PC

?" then this is the tutorial for you.

Show Notes

- In Windows Vista click on Start then on Control Panel.

- In Control Panel click on

Device Manager

and in Vista click Continue.

- The

Device Manager

shows all of the devices connected to your computer.

- Select a device you want to update, like the DVD player.

- Click on the device and highlight it.

- Right-click and select Update Driver Software.

- Windows will ask if you want to search automatically or browse for the driver. In most cases it's better to have it search automatically.

- It will now ask if you want to search every time, just this time, or never. Make your selection.

- Windows goes out and searches the Internet for a newer device driver.

- If it finds one it will install it.

- If not it will tell you that your driver is up-to-date.

- Close out of

Device Manager

and Control Panel and you're done.
