If you want the ability to
change router settings remotely
, then you'll have to tweak a couple of settings. This is anadvanced router option
that is easy to do and once you're finished, you'll be able tochange your router settings

- In the router software, find Remote Management.
- Turn on remote management.
- You'll see a URL to use from remote locations such as this one: http://68.54.231.204:8080.
- The :8080 specifies the port that allows the remote access.
- You can change this to any number between 1024 and 65534.
- If, for example, you used 1024, your remote URL would be http://68.54.231.204:1024.
- You can allow access from one IP address or from a range.
- It is unwise to allow too many users to have remote access to your router.
- Once you're done, just click Apply.
- You're now ready to access your router from a remote location.
