Google Earth
is loaded with features. You can view the Earth, the Moon, the stars and even Mars. Some people don't realize that there's also aflight simulator in Google Earth

- Get Google Earth
- In Google Earth click Tools and then Enter Flight Simulator.
- You get your choice of aircraft. Either an F-16 fighter jet, or an SR22 prop plane.
- You can start from your current position or you can pick an airport from the drop-down menu.
- If you have a joystick you can use it to fly your plane.
- If you don't have a joystick you can fly the plane with just the mouse and keyboard commands.
- Here is the Flight Simulator Help
- Starting on a runway you can see the runway and the horizon.
- The Heads Up Display or HUD is on the screen. To toggle the HUD press H.
- Speed is on the left of the HUD and altitude is on the right.
- In the center is your indication of pitch angle. Level is 0.
- To takeoff you need to increase power to your engines. Use PG UP on a PC or FN+Up arrow on a Mac.
- Increase speed until you're going about 150 and then gently tap the down arrow. Pressing down raises the nose.
- Try to keep your angle at around 10 degree until you get some altitude and then you can level off.
- Left arrow takes you left, right arrow takes you right.
- If you crash you have the option of resuming your flight or exiting Flight Simulator.
- To raise the landing gear use the G key.
