- When you first power on the Palm Pre, you'll be presented with a language selection screen. Select and confirm the language you'll use on your Palm Pre.
- Next, you have to accept the terms of use for the device. This is mandatory so be sure to read through to understand what you're agreeing to.
- Next, you'll be asked to set up an account with Palm. This lets you keep all of your contacts and other important information securely on Palm's servers should your phone go missing later.
- Choose a Palm Profile username with the Pre's QWERTY keyboard and set a password.
- Next, you'll be asked to set up location services. This allows your Pre and certain applications to locate you on a map using the Pre's built in GPS receiver.
- You can choose to be prompted each time an application wants to use your location or opt to just allow all location services without asking.
- The initial setup tutorial shows you some of the important features of the Palm Pre, including using the gesture bar below the screen.
