If you followed our last episode then you should have successfully
installed Ubuntu
to your machine. In this episode, we'll show youhow to customize your settings
andtweak Ubuntu
to your liking so that you can get the most out of your experience.Download this episode now

- Our installation has completed and we've rebooted it's time to log in.
- Looking at the screen, you can see distinct areas.
- In the upper-left is where you can find Applications. You can also navigate to Places and tweak your System.
- In the lower-right, you have four virtual desktops so you can be uncluttered.
- In the upper right, you see the name of the account logged in, the date and time, the sound control and so on.
- Click on System and Preference and go to select Monitors.
- Here, you can change the screen resolution. Click Apply.
- If you're satisfied, click Keep This Configuration, if not keep tweaking.
- Right-click on the desktop and select Change Desktop Background.
- Ubuntu comes with some background or you can always use your own images.
- To set up email, just click the little email envelope icon and select Set up email.
- Ubuntu uses Evolution and it's excellent for doing your email.
- You'll find your PC has been connected to your network that Ubuntu will automatically find it and set it up.
- Open Firefox and you should be able to surf the Internet.
- With Ubuntu installed, you can go through and customize all your preferences.
