How Do I use Kinect for Xbox 360

Now that you have

hooked up your Kinect device

to your

Xbox 360

, you'll need to go through the

initial Kinect setup

. If you're using an older Xbox 360 model, then you'll also need to

install your Kinect software

. This is a fairly easy step-by-step process that will help you get used to

interacting with the Kinect Sensor

- If you own a new

Xbox 360 slim model

, then you'll already have the Kinect software installed. Older Xbox units will need to install the Kinect software from

Xbox Live

.

- To get the Kinect software, first make sure you are connected to Xbox Live and then insert a Kinect title. You should see the update applied automatically. After that, it will restart and complete the install, which may take some time.

- After this, you will need to continue through the Kinect setup process. Tap A to move from screen to screen and follow the instructions that you are presented.

- During this process, your Kinect will test the environment for background noise, check your speaker volume and calibrate your built-in microphone.

- You will also be asked if you want to use the Kinect microphone for chatting on Xbox Live.

- Next, you will be asked to clear the Kinect play area. You'll also be given a mark to stand on and asked to wave to the Kinect to activate it.

- Lastly, you'll be given the chance to test the Kinect interface and use your hand as a mouse to make your selection. No snapping or pointing is necessary, just hover over an option and wait until the ring completes in order to make your selection.
