Show Notes
- Optical drives are disc drives that can read and/or write discs like CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray.
- DVD writers are probably the most cost-effective right now as they can read and write both CDs and DVDs.
- Blu-ray writers are currently the most expensive but can read or write CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray discs.
- Optical drives are generally installed at the top of the front of your computer and most computer cases support multiple optical drives.
- To install a drive, clear a space in one of the optical drive bays and slide your optical drive through the front.
- You'll need to secure the drive in place using small screws, similar to how you installed your hard drive.
- Next, you'll also need to connect one cable to your optical drive from your motherboard.
- Finally, connect the power supply to your optical drive and you should be ready to go.
