- Most motherboards have built-in sound cards these days, but you can still install a more powerful card.

- If you're looking for something that's THX certified or has optical connectors or other features, you may want to install a sound card.

- The first thing to do is to find the PCI or PCI express slot that you're going to install the card in.

- A x1 PCI express slot is enough for a sound card.

- Undo the bracket aligned with that slot and install the sound card, carefully pushing the card into place.

- Screw the card into place and you're done
